Why I will never again buy a store bought dessert.

We're having our 4th of July luncheon at work tomorrow, and I volunteered to bring a cheesecake. I made Nutella swirl cheesecake. Well, technically I over-baked a Nutella swirl cheesecake. And while it was cooling on the counter (I was going to see if it could be salvaged with fresh strawberries), Buddy decided he wanted to sample it. I walked in the kitchen to check on it, and I see the hellion on the counter nibbling at it.

Well, at 10:00, it's a little late to start over from scratch. So, I went to Wal-Mart to buy a store bought pie. I bought an Edward's Key Lime Pie. I love Key Lime Pie, and I used to buy their single serve slices a lot when I wanted a treat. So, I figured that one of those would work out just fine. Not as good as one of my homemade cheesecakes, but good enough.

Well. It seems as if tonight was just NOT my night period. I opened the box and I was greeted with a very unappealing sight:

"whipped cream" on the plastic top. We're off to a bad start.

Ugh.

Um... this doesn't look very level to me. (Not to mention the smooshed "whipped cream".)

Oh my.
This really, really irked me. I know $6.00 isn't a lot of money, but this was a complete waste of money. This is not something I'd ever take to work. I might thaw it out when I get back from Charlotte this weekend and eat it in the privacy of my own home, but I doubt I'll finish it.

What a waste.
